Our story
PRS Network (Physician Reimbursement Systems, Inc.) was founded in Colorado in December 1989 by Mark Painter and urologist Dr. Ray Painter to bring practical, specialty-focused reimbursement guidance to procedural medicine. Scott Painter joined within the first year.
From those early years the organization has been shaped by the leadership of Mark, Scott, and Dr. Ray Painter, helping define a more rigorous approach to documentation, coding, and financial performance in urology and beyond. Today PRS Network operates under Scott Painter's leadership, with strategic guidance and continued expertise from Mark Painter.
We remain closely connected to our founding perspective while continuing to evolve with the changing healthcare landscape: practical, defensible, and grounded in real payer behavior.

Scott joined PRS in its first year and today leads the organization, its education programs, the free PRS Coding & Reimbursement Hub, and its work with practices and industry partners.
Mark Painter, CPC, CPMA
Co-founder ยท Leads PRS Consulting
Co-founder of PRS and a nationally recognized voice in urology reimbursement. Mark provides strategic guidance to PRS Network, leads PRS Consulting, and serves as a reimbursement expert to device and pharmaceutical companies and to legal counsel.
Ray Painter, MD
Co-founder ยท Urologist
The urologist who co-founded PRS to give procedural specialties practical, clinically grounded reimbursement guidance. Now mostly retired, Ray still joins the PRS podcast and advises the team, though he no longer provides day-to-day coding, reimbursement, or documentation guidance to clients.
